Qigong for Healing (YMAA) Lisa B. O'Shea - Beginner Friendly

Qigong for Healing (YMAA)
Lisa B. O'Shea - Beginner Friendly

The Chinese word qi means energy, and it refers to
the bioelectric energy which flows through every cell
of the body. Qigong (chi kung), or "energy work", is the practice
of cultivating the energy in the body and harmonizing
it with the natural energy around us.

Qigong can be practiced by people of all ages, and requires
no prior experience or special abilities. A little practice each day can result in a profound improvement in your health.

Zhang style Taichi follows traditional principles, mixing
slow yin and fast yang moves. This style requires fitness,
controlled breathing, and manipulation of the dantian. Similar
to Chen Style, Zhang style emphasizes precision and the unity

Chen Old Frame First Routine (Lao Jia Yi Lu) 74 Form 陈氏太极老架一路74 - Part 2

Chen Old Frame First Routine (Lao Jia Yi Lu) 74 Form 陈氏太极老架一路74 - Part 2

Master David Bao, Hua Ying Wushu
& Tai Chi Academy in Malaysia

Chen-style Tai Chi Lao Jia (Old Frame) is the earliest known form of Chen-style Tai Chi. Yi Lu (First Routine) means it is the first form learned in the system. Other major Tai Chi styles such as Yang, Wu, etc are believed to evolve from this form.

Lao Jia Yi Lu (Old Frame First Routine) consist of slow continuous movements focusing on silk reeling (纏絲). There is also Fa Jing (發勁) in this form which is the explosive release of internal energy. This form is important to all practitioners interested in learning traditional Tai Chi because they can appreciate the original form and applications of the moves they practice. Many Chen-style Tai Chi practitioners learn Lao Jia Yi Lu before moving on the others Chen forms such as Lao Jia Er Lu (Old Frame Second Routine), Xin Jia (New Frame), Xiao Jia (Small Frame).

4 Methods of Dongyue Taiji

Four Methods of Dongyue Taiji

Master Men Ganhong demonstrates the four methods of Dongyue Taiji. Dongyue Taiji (東岳太極) is a very special one. The brainchild of Professors Men Huifeng (门惠丰) and Gan Guixiang (阚桂香), Dongyue Taiji was declared by China to be the “Taiji for the new millennium” when unveiled on January 1, 2000. Professors Men and Gan are unique in the martial world. Not only are they husband and wife professors at the Beijing Sports University, they have both been awarded ninth duan (level 段), the highest rank that China bestows. They are the only married couple to achieve this recognition. Dongyue Taiji combines elements of the five major schools of Taiji: Yang, Chen, Wu, Wu, Sun (陈、杨、吴、武、孙). Despite being a new innovation, Dongyue Taiji is firmly rooted in traditional principles with a heavy emphasis on basics.

Men Ganhong is the daughter of Professor Men Huifeng and Professor Gan Guixiang. She currently resides in Korea. She regularly visits America under the auspices of the Northern America Dongyue Taiji Association presented by Tai Chi Yuen Association (北美東 岳太極拳協會,由太極友緣人組織教學).

Visualizing Chi

Visualizing Chi

Tai chi incorporates yin and yang - the Chinese
concept of opposingforces within the body, and also chi,
a life force or vital energy. Practicing tai chi aids the flow
of this vital energy with its healthybalance of yin
and yang. Used as a meditation, Tai Chi harmonizes body
and mind. My video allows a visualization of chi when
in practice,"holding a ball of chi" is often mentioned.
The model in this videoperforms the Cheng Man-ching
(modified Yang) Short Form - First Section.
