 Wudang Taiji 28 - 武当太极拳二十八

This form is taught and performed in China at Master Yuan Xiu Gang's school, the Wudang Daoist Traditional Kungfu Academy.

Wudang Tai Chi (taiji) is one of the oldest and most original forms of Tai Chi from the original roots of the style. This is The San Feng Pai variation of the Wudang Taiji 28 form. It is a subset of the original San Feng Pai Wudang Taiji 108 form. It is said that this is a direct descendant of the Tai Chi originated by Zhang San Feng 張三丰 in the Song Dynasty in approximately 1200 AD. He is thus the originator of the concept of "Internal Martial Arts".

2018 Taiji Quan Workshop - Rome, Italy

There was a lot of question asking that will I teach or having a workshop overseas? I would like to announce that my friend has organized a workshop for me in Rome, Italy in May 2018.

If you are interested, please contact the workshop’s organizer,

Nicola, email: nclpala@gmail.com.

The contents of this workshops will be based on the Yang’s style Taijiquan from Gu Lu Ping lineage which was the student of both Yang Shao Hou and Yang Cheng Fu. I already asked for permission to teach in public from my teacher, master Chi Qingsheng (Gu Luping’s indoor student). There will be some additional principles from the other line of Yang’s style Taijiquan that I have studied in the past as well.

Wǔ/Hao old frame, Shanxi province Xiyang county transmission

Wǔ/Hao Old Frame, Shanxi Province

Xiyang County Transmission

Xiyang county Wǔ Shì Tàijí Quán Lǎo Jià, Wu Family Taiji Quan Old Frame. Part of the Wu/Hao style Old Frame form followed by an assortment of techniques from the Xiyang Wu Taiji "Striking the Eight Gates" form, demonstrated by 79 year old Wang Jinhai of North Rock Shrine Village in the Old Wall Village township of Xiyang county, Shanxi province.

This lineage of Wu Family Taiji is from Xiyang county in Shanxi province where it was taught by master Li Baoyu (A.K.A. Li Xiangyuan). Li Baoyu was from Hebei province and began studying San Huang Pao Chui at a young age. Later his teacher gave him an introduction to Yang Zhaolin from whom he studied Yang style Taiji.

After the death of Yang Zhaolin he began studying Wu style under Hao Weizhen (Sun Lutang's taiji teacher) becoming one of his top disciples. He was known for his deep knowledge and skills and taught in many places. However it was in Xiyang county in Shanxi province where he taught the longest, staying many years and teaching the entire Wu style system to a small number of local villagers.

Since that time the old traditional methods of the Wu style have been preserved at a very high level in a few of the small villages in Xiyang county. Wu style Taiji Quan originates with master Wu YuXiang who studied (along with his brothers) Yang style under it's founder Yang LuChan, and later under Chen Qingping, inheritor of the Chen family small frame style and the Zhaobao style. His brother discovered the Taiji classics in the back of a salt shop while they were studying under master Chen. He later formulated his own system of Taiji combining the methods he had learned from his teachers with the teachings contained in the classics.
